Dancing on a Rainbow |
When my reading teacher Comes to get me For my special reading class I feel like Dancing on a rainbow. |
To me she is a light in the darkness the twinkle of a star soft as a cottonball a true friend. |
When my reading teacher Comes to get me For my special reading class I know what it is like To dance on a rainbow! |

For adding numbers, and taking scores, Checking assignments, There's always more! |

Is he coming after me? |

I Cannot Get My Homework Done |
Unless I'm alone Or with someone, I cannot get My homework done. |
I love to write about simple things like book bags, lunches, recess, desks, erasers and pencils. Here is one of my favorite eraser/pencil poem.
The Pencil and Eraser Were in a Horrid Fight |
The pencil and eraser Were in a horrid fight, It went on through the day And well into the night. |
The pencil wrote a poem About erasers that can’t write, The eraser erased the poem, And he did it with delight. |
The pencil wrote a sign, Keep erasers out of sight, The eraser erased the sign, And he did it out of spite. |
The pencil wrote a note, "You're just a parasite!" The eraser erased the note, Not a word was left in sight. |
The pencil and eraser Fought all through the night, And when the morning came, They had disappeared from sight. |
I love to write about every room in the school. I’ve discovered that the bathroom has the best stories of all!
Meet Me in the Bathroom |
Meet me in the bathroom, Right at two o’clock, You leave your class, I’ll leave mine, We’ll have a chance to talk. |
Meet me in the bathroom, Fake a stomachache, You leave math, I’ll leave art, We’ll take a bathroom break. |
Meet me in the bathroom, I’ll be waiting there for you, On the trash can, By the sink, At the dot of two. |
I love to write about the problems that students have in school. Here is a poem I wrote many years ago about one of my own students.
The Dawdler |
The teacher says I dawdle, And her words are very true; I never seem to finish All the work I'm meant to do. |
My spelling's incomplete, And my math is late again, She gave us twenty problems. But I only got to ten. |
Believe me when I tell you Life certainly seems unfair, When I feel like a turtle Struggling way behind the hares. |
The teacher says I dawdle, And her words are very true, But does she know how much I wish, I'd get the work done too? |
I love to write about tests, report cards, assignments and homework!
The Fight |
Homework and television Were in a fight, Homework lost the game Last night. |
The Score | |
Television: | 180 minutes |
Homework: | 3 minutes |
I love to write puzzle poems. They are so much fun to write. See if you can figure this one out.
I Turn Something Into Nothing |
I turn something Into nothing, I really really do, I'm a something Made for nothing, Oh, This precious fact Is true. |
If you need to change A something Into nothing For awhile, Then I'm the something That turns something Into nothing With a smile. |
So if you want Some nothing From the something That you write, I'm the something Filled with nothing That is what you want In sight. |
(Answer – Eraser) |
